In the spring of 2003 the most wonderful event occurred: Krispy Kreme’s Mishawaka location opened! This even has had a profound impact on my life.
Not only has it brought the inconceivable melt-in- your-mouth goodness close to home, but it has made me realize that if I
am going to keep God’s temple (my body) in working order, I’m going to have to not eat the entire dozen all by
myself.
The
Hot & Now light is probably America’s favorite culinary symbol.
With the glow of florescent bulbs, eager patrons rush in for steaming hot, just frosted free morsels- each containing the
fat equivalent of 12 slices of bacon. Infact, one individual camped out for over 3 weeks to win vast quantities of the highly
sought after delicacies. What is really great is that after the late Saturday night service at church, this lovely red and
orange light is usually glowing bright into the night. So you can go and enjoy a donut with your family- hence encouraging
quality time together.
Many
people have labeled Krispy Kreme as a cult- similar to that of Harley Davidson. But it has a great Christian following, too.
Not only do I own a pair of Krispy Kreme boxers, but I have several Christian friends- attendants of Elkhart Christian Academy (and also Baptist Bible College of Clarks Summit,
Pennsylvania) who also own various apparel from this famed donut shop. Infact, Pulse Christian Radio broadcasters were there
to celebrate the grand opening, with their Bible-believing listening audience attending the function as well.
Truly,
our lives here in and around Mishawaka would be incomplete, unbearable and utterly deprived if Krispy Kreme would not have
extended its chain into our locale. They have truly enriched (and enlarged) many lives.
